The Festival Against Intolerance and Fanaticism will run December 11-17 in Nicosia.
The filmmakers say they were themselves censored for lack of sufficient patriotism, according to the Cyprus Mail. The festival will screen films that were censored or banned. Among the filmmakers featured are Panikos Chrysanthou, whose 2006 film Akamas about a romance between a Greek and a Turkish Cypriot was banned from government sponsored festivals. Other directors with films in the festival include Yiannis Ioannou, Umit Inatci and Osman Alkas
