FNE IDF Doc Bloc: KVIFF 2013 Documentary Competition Films

    PRAGUE: Ten feature films and six short films will compete in the Documentary Films in Competition section at the 48th Karlovy Vary IFF, 28 June – 6 July 2013. 

    The Czech Republic will be represented by Bára Kopecká’s DK, a feature-length documentary about the life and death of radical architect David Kopecký, and by a Czech/Russian/German coproduction, Pipeline directed by Vitaly Manskiy. Slovakia sends Exhibits or Stories from the Castle (Exponáty alebo Príbehy z kaštieľa) directed by Pavel Korec. 

    Half the documentaries come from CEE territories, including As You Like It (După FEL și CHIP) from Romania directed by Paula Onet; Gangster of Love, a Croatian/Romanian/German coproduction directed by Nebojša Slijepčević; Rogalik by Polish director Paweł Ziemilski; The Man Who Made Angels Fly, a Polish/British/French coproduction directed by Wiktoria Szymańska; and from Austria My Fathers, My Mother & Me directed by Paul-Julien Robert.

    The remaining films in competition come from Denmark (Moon Rider, dir. Daniel Dencik), U.K. (Beach Boy, dir. Emil Langballe), France (The Day Has Conquered the Night, dir. Jean-Gabriel Périot), U.S. (Cutie and the Boxer, dir. Zachary Heinzerling), Korea (Captain Kang, dir. Won Ho-yeon), Germany (Cathedrals, dir. Konrad Kästner and Kiran, dirs.. Bettina Timm, Alexander Riedel), and Canada (The Manor, dir. Shawney Cohen).
