FESTIVALS: Plzen Finale Announces Czech Slovak Competition

    PLZEN: Fourteen Czech and Slovak films will compete for the main Golden Kingfisher at the Plzen Finale Festival, running 27 April – 3 May 2014.

    Traditionally only new Czech films have competed for the main award, but recent Slovak production will now also be taking part.

    In addition the number of Golden Kingfisher awards has been expanded to four. The two competitions for new live-action and animated feature films and for documentaries are going to be complemented with competitions for TV production, in two categories: comedy and drama.

    A total of 32 feature films were submitted for the main competition. Fourteen will screen in the competition and 18 will be screened out of competition. In the documentary competition, 22 films will be screened. Nine TV programmes will compete in the comedy category and 13 TV programmes will compete in the drama category.
