HBO Europe Green-lights Original Czech Series Oblivious


    KARLOVY VARY: HBO Europe will produce in the Czech Republic an original six-part espionage drama Oblivious, which will be directed by Ivan Zacharias.The announcement was made during an HBO Europe special panel at the 2018 Karlovy Vary IFF.

    Set in the Czech Republic in the late 80's, Oblivious is written by first-time TV screenwriter Ondrej Gabriel.

    Ivan Zacharias previously directed the HBO Europe mini-series Wasteland, which premiered at the 2016 Karlovy Vary IFF and is now set for streaming distribution in the U.S.

    The previous HBO Europe originals from the Czech Republic are: Wasteland, the acclaimed Agnieszka Holland-directed miniseries Burning Bush, rom-com Head over Heels, thriller Mamon and three seasons of In Treatment

    Upcoming HBO Europe productions include Blinded by the Lights by Krzysztof Skonieczny (Poland), Hackerville by Igor Cobileanski and Anca Miruna Lăzărescu  (Romania, Germany), Success by Danis Tanović (Croatia), Beforeigners by Jens Lien (Norway), Golden Life by Áron Mátyássy and Zsombor Dyga (Hungary) and Gösta by Lukas Moodysson (Sweden).
