The biography of beloved Lithuanian writer Jurga Invanauskaite, who died at age 45 in 2007, was produced by Fralita production company (www.fralita.com).

According film producer Zivile Gallego, "The film will evoke witnesses from Jurga's surrounding, using visual and sound archive material, as well artistic creative elements, where the authetic accessories are used." Some critical scenes were dramatically re-created.

Ivanauskaite received a national prize in 2005 in Lithuania. Her works have been translated into several languages, including English, Latvian, Polish, Russian, German, and Swedish.

Dance in the Desert was supported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture with a €10,000 (35,000 Litas) grant.
