FESTIVALS: Macedonian Doc Honeyland Gets Three Awards at Sundance

    SKOPJE: Macedonian documentary Honeyland by Tamara Kotevska and Ljubomir Stefanov received three awards at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, including the Grand Jury Prize, while Polish actress Krystyna Janda was awarded the Special Jury Award for Acting for Dolce Fine Giornata by Jacek Borcuch. The festival was held from 24 January to 3 February 2019.

    Honeyland, which follows the last female beehunter in Europe, who must save the bees and return the natural balance in Honeyland when a family of nomadic beekeepers invade her land, was also awarded the Special Jury Award for Impact for Change and the Special Jury Award for Cinematography for Fejmi Daut and Samir Ljuma.

    Honeyland was produced by Trice Films in coproduction with Apolo Media and it was selected for the World Cinema Documentary Competition.

    Honeyland crew at Sundance

    Dolce Fine Giornata by Jacek Borcuch had its world premiere in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition. It was produced by the Polish company No Sugar Films in coproduction with Tank Production, Motion Group and Aeroplan.

    Dolce Fine Giornata is the third film directed by Jacek Borcuch that was screened in Sundance, following his previous dramas Lasting (2013, Manana) and All That I Love (2009, Prasa&Film).
