Federico Film's previous productions include Facing Up directed by Marek Stacharski and Earthly Paradise directed by Gerwazy Reguła, also with support from the Polish Film Institute.My Father's Bike was written by Trzaskalski and Wojciech Lepianka and is about three generations of men: grandfather, son and grandson. The same theme appears in their relationships: the father and son relationship is based on rebellion and suffering. The 70-year-old grandfather is left by his wife, and although he is in a dispute his son, the son and the grandson come to his rescue. They decide to find the grandmother and try to persuade her to get back to the grandfather, leading to major changes in their lives.
The cast includes Polish stars Artur Żmijewski, Witold Dębicki, Anna Nehrebecka, and jazz star Michał Urbaniak making his film debut. The cinematographer is Piotr Śliskowski (Edi, Pornography).

Trzaskalski was born in 1964 in Łódź and graduated in Culture Studies from University of Łódź and in Film and TV Directing from the National Film School in Łódź. He attended the Northern School of Film and Television Leeds Metropolitan University in UK and has been a member of the European Film Academy since 2004. Trzaskalski won multiple awards for his feature debut Edi (2002), including the FIPRESCI Prize at Berlin IFF, Karlovy Vary: Beyond the Competition by Philip Morris Award, Split SFF: Audience Award, and Warsaw IFF: Grand Prix. His second film Master (2005) won the FIPRESCI Prize at Miami Film Festival in 2006.
