{mosimage}My Father's Bike follows the unusual journey of seventy-year-old Włodek, whose wife suddenly leaves him for another man. He sets off to find her, accompanied by his estranged son, a celebrated pianist, who also has a difficult relationship with his own son, living in England. The three men end up renting a small lake house, where their relationships are put to test over a period of a few days. They try to resolve long-time feuds, resentments and come to a basic understanding and empathy towards each other. The three lead roles are played by Polish jazz star Michał Urbaniak as the grandfather, Artur Żmijewski and Krzysztof Chodorowski.
{mosimage}Trzaskalski, a graduate of Film and TV Directing at the Łódź Film School, won multiple awards for his feature debut Edi (www.opusfilm.com), including the FIPRESCI Prize at Berlin IFF (www.berlinale.de), Karlovy Vary(www.kviff.com) and Warsaw IFF Grand Prix (www.wff.pl) His second film Master (www.opusfilm.com) won the FIPRESCI Prize at Miami Film Festival (www.miamifilmfestival.com) in 2006.
My Father's Bike was shot on location in Łódź between 16 August and 20 September 2011. The film was produced by siblings Marta Plucińska and Paweł Pluciński, owners of the Polish production company Federico Film. The coproducer is a Polish private broadcaster TVN S.A. (www.tvn.pl). The film received financing from the Polish Film Institute and the Municipal Office of the City of Łódź. The director of photography for this project is Piotr Śliskowski, most recognized for his work on Edi and Pornography (www.heritage.com.pl).
The theatrical release of the picture is planned for November 2012, and world sales are managed by TVN S.A.
