The shoot for the biopic, with the working title Kantor. I'll Never Come Back Here, began on 24 July 2015 and will last until November 2015 with two breaks in filming.
The film is produced by Studio Rewers in coproduction with the National Audiovisual InstitiuteAudiovisual Institiute and TVP. The final budget has not been announced. The film is produced as part of a number of projects devoted to the artist marking 2015 as the UNESCO Tadeusz Kantor year. The film is supported by the Krakow Festival Office and Krakow Film Commission.
The script for this project was written over a three year period by Łukasz M. Maciejewski working with Maciej Pisuk and Hryniak.
"We are aware that we can't make everybody happy. Anyone who knew Kantor has their own story to tell," said Anna Drozd, the head of Studio Rewers.
The creators of the film consulted Kantor’s co-workers and family, including his daughter Dorota Krakowska, Janicki brothers, Lech Stangret and the employees of the Cricot Theate which Kantor founded, and the Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor, which is also a coproducer of the film.
The premiere is planned for the second half of 2016 with distribution by Kino Świat
