CANAL+ Launches CANAL+ SERIES LAB with Wajda School

    WARSAW: CANAL+ will invest in a workshop for screenwriters at the Wajda School and will select the two best series ideas to put into production.

    CANAL+ and the Wajda School announced the launch of a new joint venture during a discussion panel held at Netia Off Camera Film Festival in Cracow. The private broadcaster will finance a special development lab to foster ideas for interesting new series.
    The call for applications is open till 31 July 2016. CANAL+ will choose four projects in the first stage of the lab. In the second part of the CANAL+ SERIES LAB the station will choose the best two projects and develop them further to put them into production.

    "We are interested in new, fresh ideas that would match the level of international excellence presented by television series all over the world," Jakub Szurmiej, Movie Channel Director for NC+ told FNE. "We are very flexible and open to new stories in interesting forms," he adds.

    CANAL+ SERIES LAB will allow the participants to consult with leading Polish and international television production specialists. "We will choose the consultants individually for each of the projects, so the process of development can truly be beneficial for the participants and for the script. We cannot underestimate the meaning of development when we are looking to produce premium quality shows," Wojciech Marczewski, Programming Director of Wajda School, told FNE.

    CANAL+ SERIES LAB. will take place between October 2016 and September 2017 with production of the chosen series planned for 2018/2019.
