The Erlprince / Królewicz Olch is a story of painful growing up, focusing on the crossroads between childhood and adolescence. It is a tale of a brief period of turbulent and radical changes. It is a film about the death of a boy and the birth of a young man, a description of his efforts to break free from his parents and a study on the initiation into adulthood.
"The film is a fictional tale of a 13 year-old boy, a story suspended between reality and imagination with no details about place and time. None of the central characters has a given name and surname. They are based on archetypes to which the concrete roles of mother, son and father are ascribed. They come from different poles, from different planets and they represent different values: worldly possessions, science and nature", said the director.
The producers are Ewa Jastrzębska, Jacek Bromski and Dariusz Gajewski. The film was produced by Munk Studio-Polish Filmmakers Association in coproduction with TVP, Odra Film and ORKA Production Studio, with the support of the Polish Film Institute and the Wroclaw Film Commission.
The film will be domestically released in spring 2017.
Kuba Czekaj is internationally recognised for his feature film Baby Bump (2015, Balapolis).
