Poland Embraces French Films

    WARSAW: Unifrance released its 2015 annual report and analysis, showing French films holding strong internationally and in CEE territories, with Poland, in 11th place, proving to be one of the more successful territiories for French films.

    The latest film in the Asterix franchise took in more than 200,000 admissions in Poland and De toutes nos forces had a respectable 84,000 admissions. In Romania, Babysitting 2 had a strong showing with 24,000 admissions in just two weeks.

    CEE and the Middle East combined accounted for 9.6 percent of admissions for French films, for a total of 10.7 million.

    The best results were reported in Poland, where 41 French films in distribution garnered 2.9 m admissions and 6.4 percent of the market. Romania had nearly 600,000 admissions for 40 films and a market share of 5.2 percent. The Czech Republic released 36 French films which had 500,000 admissions and a 3.6 percent share of the market. Croatia and Bulgaria also made it into the top 50 list of territories. In Croatia, 24 films claimed 260,000 admissions and a market share of 6.5 percent and in Bulgaria 24 films took in 215,000 admissions and a 3.9 percent market share.
