Volterra will follow the character of a fictional Nobel Prize winnng Polish poet played by Krystyna Janda. "It's a story about modern Europe, taking place in the Tuscan province city Volterra. I want to tell a story about the fear of 'the other' experienced in Europe", says Jacek Borcuch.
Polish company No Sugar Films is producing with a planned budget of 1.6 m EUR. An Italian coproducer or line producer is expected to join.
Jacek Borcuch is an accomplished Polish actor and screenwriter, who had a major success with his feature debut All That I Love. The film produced by Prasa&Film, was selected for the Main Competition of the 2010 Sundance IFF and was the Polish candidate for an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film in 2010. All That I Love was sold for distribution in 15 countries including France, Italy, Spain, German, Belgium and Holland.
