Skrzydlate świnie ( Pigs with Wings ) is the story two brothers Oskar and Mariusz and their group of friends, whose main activity is cheering on their favourite football (soccer) club. When their team is dropped from the second league and looses its sponsor, they are left without any purpose or activity. Suddenly, their skills as soccer fans come in handy when the owner of a new second league team hires them to organize professional rooters for his club. The job opens up a glamorous world for the group of small town young people. Meanwhile, their old team make a come back to the league, leading to a conflict of loyalties in a world where there is a thin line between a fan and a hooligan.
The movie is directed by Anna Kazejak, a Polish director whose debut novel was one of the three parts in the acclaimed drama Ode to Joy. The shoot for her feature debut started on September 3 and continues until October 30, 2009. The movie is produced by Akson Studio (www.aksonstudio.pl) with a total budget of 4.2 million PLN (€ 1 million) and 2 million PLN financing from the Polish Film institute( www.pisf.pl). The producer informed FNE that there is a posssibility of The Documentary and Feature Films Studio (WFDiF, www.wfdif.com.pl) being engaged in the project with 250,000 PLN.
Skrzydlate świnie gathers a renowned cast of Polish actors with Paweł Małaszyński, a most popular young Polish actors, as Oskar and Cezary Pazura as the owner of the club. Joining them are Piotr Rogucki, Olga Bołądź, Agata Kulesza and Karolina Gorczyca. Akson Studio told FNE that the Polish premiere of the picture is planned for the second half of 2010.
