FNE at DISCOP Budapest 2011: TV4 Picks up British Reality Format

By Katarzyna Grynienko

Polish private broadcaster TV4 has commissioned the first season of Czysta Chata, a Polish version of the British reality show, How Clean Is Your House.

The show is produced by the Polish unit of FreemantleMedia (www.freemantle.com), the production company that owns the format. TV4 (www.tv4.pl) has begun airing casting spots to look for Polish contestants for the show. A date for the premiere has not been announced.

How Clean Is Your House was successfully broadcast by TV4 and Club TV in April and May 2011 and will be also shown by TV 6, a channel that will be available in June from ground transmitters after the partial digitalization of Polish television. The owner of TV 6 (www.tv6.com.pl) is Polskie Media (www.polskiemedia.com.pl), which also owns TV4.

In the British version of How Clean Is Your House two energetic British women visit messy houses and advise the owners on how to clean and fix up their place. This type of "expert advice" show is still a novelty when it comes to content produced locally in Poland but is already proving very popular with viewers. In 2010 TVN ( www.tvn.pl) started broadcasting Kuchenne Rewolucje (Kitchen Revolutions), a show where experienced restaurant entrepreneur Magda Gessler helps the owners of failing establishments to fix their businesses. TVN's production turned out to be one of the most popular Polish shows on television in 2010, and the broadcaster is currently airing its third season with plans to continue with the fourth.
