Apart from screening the most acclaimed films from Cannes 2016, most of them premiering in Romania, the festival will bring to Romania some of their directors including Maren Ade, Alain Guiraudie, Eran Kolirin and Mehmet Can Mertoğlu.
Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade will open the festival. The film was produced by Germany’s Komplizen Film in coproduction with Austria’s Coop99 Filmproduktion and Romania’s Hi Film Productions, and was shot mainly in Romania.
The Managing Talents Conference is already sold out. Its guests will be agents who have managed the careers of several celebrities and well-known casting directors: Ilene Feldman (talent manager, LBI Entertainment, USA), Avy Kaufman (casting director, USA), Richard Cook (Lisa Richard Agency, Ireland) and Georg Georgi (Das Imperium, Germany).
In six years, Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest has grown into one of the most wide-ranging cultural events in the capital. Last year, the festival brought in over 15,000 viewers, many screenings were sold out and nearly half of the tickets were bought before the festival even started.
The festival is organised by Cinemascop Association and Voodoo Films.
