The prize was given by a jury of members of the Romanian Filmmakers Union.
A Special Prize was awarded to The Other Irina/Cealaltă Irina by Andrei Gruszniczki, while Radu Mihaileanu was awarded best director for The Concert. The UCIN award for the best script went to Cristian Mungiu, for Tales from the Golden Age/Amintiri din Epoca de Aur.
Hilda Peter was awarded Best Actress for Katalin Varga, directed by Peter Strickland, and Andi Vasluianu won Best Actor for The Other Irina. Gheorghe Dinică was awarded "In Memoriam" Prize for his last character played in Weekend with Mom/Weekend cu mama, by Stere Gulea.
Marius Panduru was awarded for the best cinematography for his work on Weekend with Mom, while Sergiu Nicolaescu received a Special Prize for his contribution to the film culture. Composer Florin Tăbăcaru and Gruber's Journey/Călătoria lui Gruber (by Radu Gabrea) received the UCIN prize for the best original music, while the prize for the best art direction went to the same film and to Svetlana Mihăilescu. The UCIN prize for the best editing went to Dana Bunescu for Crossing Dates/Întâlniri încrucişate by Anca Damian. The "Opera Prima" Award went to Adrian Sitaru for Angling/Pescuit sportiv.
The film critic Magda Mihăilescu, author of François Truffaut: The Man Who Loved The Movies/ François Truffaut: Barbatul care iubea filmele received the prize for the best book on cinema. The documentaries Faust - The Passage of a Moment/Faust- Drumul clipei by Laurenţiu Damian and My Brother from the Exile/Fratele meu din exil by Ana Boariu received awards for the best long films, while the jury gave mentions to Claudiu Mitcu (the director of the documentary Australia), Tudor Chirilă (the director of The Last Prosphora/Ultima prescură), Adela Popescu (the main actress from Weekend With Mom), and Dorian Boguţă (the main actor from Francesca).
