M-appeal picks up Romanian Hello, How Are You

Alexandru Maftei's feature debut, Hello, How Are You, has been acquired by German sales company M-appeal (www.m-appeal.com) and the film's soundtrack by Dragoş Alexandru has been picked up by Warner/Chappell Italy (www.warnerchappell.com).

The film, now in the final phase of sound mixing, will have it a pre-premiere screening at Transylvania IFF, May 28-June 6 (www.tiff.ro).

Maftei, who graduated from Drama and Film University in Bucharest in 1995 has directed several shorts and a TV feature.

Hello, How Are You? is a romantic comedy involving a husband and wife falling anonomously in love over the internet. The film is a Romanian-Spanish-Italian co-production between Rollin Studio (www.rollin.ro), ABS Film Company (www.absfilmcompany.com) and Trees Pictures (www.treespictures.it), with the support of the National Centre for Cinema Romania (www.cncinema.abt.ro), Romanian National Television (www.tvr.ro), Initiative Media, McCann-Erickson (www.mccann.ro), Starcom Media Vest (www.smvgroup.com), Mindshare (www.mindshareworld.com) and Mediaedgecia. The project participated at the 5th Sofia Meetings (www.siff.bg) pitching session in 2008. Shooting took place in June and July 2009 in Romania and Spain.

Tudor Reu, Antoni Sole and Maurizio Santarelli are producing. The budget was €3,000,000. Lia Bugnar wrote the script based on an idea by Maftei. Radu Aldea is the DOP. The Romanian-Spanish cast includes Dana Voicu, Ionel Mihăilescu, Paul Diaconescu and Jordi García.
