Slovak Doc 38 Tops Box Office in Record Opening

BRATISLAVA: Director Daniel Dangl's new doc 38 about the Slovak ice-hockey legend Pavol Demitra, has topped the Slovak box office reaching record numbers of spectators. With nearly 50,000 admissions in its opening weekend, its total admissions have now reached over 83,000.

This is a record for any Slovak film premiere in recent years.

Demitra was a star ice hockey player for the Russian ice hockey team Lokomotiv Jaroslavl. He died about four years ago in a plane crash which tragically killed all 44 passengers on the plane, this film honours this legendary sportsman.

38 is supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund.
