Slovak spotlight in Jihlava

    Building on its emergence as a documentary powerhouse, Slovakia and the Slovak Film Institute (www.aic.sk) will host a Slovak Day at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival(26-31 October 2010) on 26 October 2010. A highlight of the activities will be a case study of the international success Cooking History presented by Film Europe's Marketa Lamperova and sales agent Jarmila Outratova.

    The activities also include a networking breakfast with Slovak filmmakers and a presentation of Slovak documentary films since 1990.

    The Czech and Slovak co-production Matchmaking Mayor (Nesvatbov, dir. Erika Hnikova, 2010) will open the festival and is included in the Czech Joy competition section.

    A total of eight films will be presented in the East Silver Film Market, and three Slovak films are among the 33 nominations for the Silver Eye Award.

    Slovakia is also represented with a project at the region's leading pitching forum for documentary films, the 10th East European Coproduction Forum. Romanies Go to Election will be introduced by director Jaro Vojtek and producer: Tomas Kaminsky of Mandala Pictures.
