FESTIVALS: FNE at Istanbul IFF: Hair

Hair had its world premiere in competition at the Locarno Film Festival in August 2010, with the Turkish premiere following in October at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, where it won both the Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the Best Cinematography awards.

{mosimage}Hair is the third film in Tayfun Pirselimoglu's trilogy about three people from the lower classes in Turkey. The first two films in the trilogy were Riza (2007) and Haze (Pus, 2009). Ayberk Pekcan plays the lead role and is supported by Pirselimoglu's favorite actor Riza Akin.

The film is about a male wigmaker with terminal cancer. It is a low budget film shot in 35 mm and 2.35:1 format.

The film, a coproduction with Greece, is produced by Zuzi Film (www.zuzifilm.com). It has not yet been released in Turkey.
