As 2014 is reaching its end, we're welcoming our new board and president of honour and the Parliament approves the new Commission. A new cycle begins for Europa Distribution
Europa Distribution's General Assembly took place in Rome, on October 17th.
Results of the board elections were revealed: congratulations to the new board members.
Our new president of honour, Ursula Meier, was present and delivered a thoughtful word
acknowledging the importance of circulation of European works and the crucial role that distributors play for European film makers like her.

RETURN TO ITHACA and LAS BUSQUEDAS awarded in Biarritz
From September 29 to October 5, FESTIVAL DE BIARRITZ AMERIQUE LATINE presented over 70 quality Latino films. The festival and Europa Distribution invited Joan Aguilar (IMAGINE, BE) to be part of the Long Feature Films Jury.
El Abrazo (best film prize) went to RETURN TO ITHACA by Laurent Cantet, a coproduction between France and Cuba.
LAS BUSQUEDAS, Mexican film by José Luis Valle was awarded the Prize of the Jury.

Our last workshops : SAN SEBASTIAN & ROME
From September 21 to 25, about 20 ED distributors met in SAN SEBASTIAN to discuss Day & Date releases and how they can work or not : a real European puzzle. After attending a panel moderated by Michael Gubbins, the participants presented case studies focusing on their national realities. The workshop ended with a round table.
In ROME, not only had we our General Assembly but we also organised in partnership with The Business Street a panel focusing on new patterns of film marketing and distribution, on October 18. The discussion was moderated by Jakub Duszynski and reuniting experts from different sectors of the film industry.

REMINDER - Selective Scheme deadline
Call for proposals EACEA/23/2014 for the distribution selective scheme has been published last month.
The first deadline will be on December 4th 2014 (the second one will be June 2nd 2015)
When one of your film is supported by MEDIA, do not forget to put the MEDIA logo on your material.

European Parliament approves the NEW COMMISSION
Juncker Commission has started on Saturday, November 1st October.
MEDIA programme leaves DG Culture and is now under DG Digital Economy & Society (former DG Connect), alongside copyright, which was formerly under DG Market.
The DG Digital Economy and Society is headed by German commissionner Günther Öttinger.
