Macedonian Film Agency to Support 16 Festivals in 2018

    SKOPJE: Macedonian Film Agency announced a decision on 16 March 2018 to financially boost 16 festivals according to the announced Call for financing projects of national interest in the film industry for organizing domestic festivals and other film manifestations of international character in 2018.

    International Cinematographer’s Film Festival Manaki Brothers, Cinedays Festival of European Film, MakeDox International Creative Documentary Film Festival, Skopje Film Festival and Tetova International Film Festival ODA are among the festivals to receive highest grants.

    The national film body announced that after reviewing all the applications for organizing domestic festivals in 2018, the members of the Film committee concluded that there is an overwhelming number of film festivals in Macedonia.

    “Most of the festivals don`t differ in concepts and programs, and it don`t validate the quality and the justification for their existence. All the festival applications were approached individually and according to the criteria the focus was put on established festivals whose reputation, tradition, continuity and affirmative values in Macedonian film culture can confirm that”, stated the Agency.
