The upcoming edition of WEMW (January 20-22, 2019) will launch a new East & West double focus and will bring together over 450 film professionals from more than 35 countries and, in particular, from the 2019 spotlight regions: Central Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine) and Benelux (Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands).
Starting from today producers from Europe* and North/Latin America are eligible to apply and WEMW will select 20 projects in development with international co-production potential, preferably either with Central Eastern Europe, Benelux or Italy. Projects can be long feature fiction films or documentaries, with preferably 15% of the total budget already in place.
All selected projects will compete for the following awards:
- Film Center Serbia Development Award - cash prize
- EAVE scholarship - for the EAVE European Producers Workshop
- Flow Postproduction Award - 15.000 EUR prize in post-production facilities
- EWA Network Best Woman Director Award - cash prize for the best female director
- Producers Network Prize - free accreditation to the Cannes Marche du Film Producer’s Network
- Asterisk Visual Marketing Award - complete package including the prelaunch poster and dossier design, as well as content and text curation provided by Heretic Asterisk
- Bratislava Film Residence Award - A 7-week residency with the guidance of international mentors

FIRST CUT LAB
DEADLINE: December 6, 2018
First Cut Lab is a programme designed for 3 long feature fiction films in editing phase from Eastern Europe* and Italy. Selected producer/director teams will receive tailor-made advice from a consulting editor and expert feedback from top international film professionals (creative producers, festival programmers, sales agents, etc). The main goal is to foster the artistic potential of selected rough cuts and, at the same time, increase the sales, festival and circulation potential of completed films.
