ZAGREB: Projects from Croatia, Latvia, Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary are among the 12 projects selected for the ZagrebDox Pro training 2017, set to take place from 26 February to 3 March 2017.

PRAGUE: Several new categories, including a new Czech competition, are among the surprises of the 2017 One World. The festival is set to take place in Prague from 6 to 15 March 2017 and to visit 32 other cities in the Czech Republic and Brussels afterwards. The slogan of this year's festival campaign is The Art of Collaboration.

TRIESTE: Mirjana Karanovic’s A Good Wife was awarded best film at the 28th edition of Trieste Film Festival, that wrapped on 29 January 2017.

TRIESTE: Wishing on a Star, the new project by Peter Kerekes coproduced by Italy, Austria and Slovakia, won the CNC Development Award at the When East Meets West Co-production Forum. The 7th edition of WEMW took place from 22 to 24 January 2017 within the 28th Trieste Film Festival (20-29 January 2017).

BUCHAREST: The anim’est International Animation Film Festival has been awarded the status of OSCAR® qualifying film festival by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

ŁÓDŹ: The Polish city of Łódź plans to apply for inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Film.

BERLIN: Munich-based Beta Cinema picked up Ana, mon amour by Călin Peter Netzer, Spoor / Pokot by Agnieszka Holland and A Prominent Patient / Masaryk by Julius Ševcík, and will represent them during the Berlinale (9-19 February 2017).

Wishing on a Star, an Italian, Austrian, Slovak documentary directed by Peter Kerekes, is the winner of the seventh edition of When East Meets West. The project tells the story of a peculiar astrologist who offers to her clients a simple, but effective way, to change their destiny by taking a trip, often to remote places, on the day of their birthday. Wishing on a star was honoured with the CNC Development Award (5.000 EUR cash prize) as the best of the 22 projects in competition by an international jury of experts consisting of Matthieu Darras (TorinoFilmLab), Marge Liiske (Industry@Tallinn/Baltic Event),  Nikolaj Nikitin (SOFA – School of Film Agents), Kristina Trapp (EAVE) and Marie Pierre Valle (Wild Bunch).
