LJUBLJANA: Miha Černčec is one of the new generation of enthusiastic Slovenian film producers. After producing some short movies he received worldwide recognition in Venice with Matteo Oleotto’s comedy drama Zoran, my Nephew the Idiot in 2013 and with Ivan Gergolet’s documentary Dancing with Maria last year.

LJUBLJANA: In February, award-winning Slovenian filmmaker Damjan Kozole finished shooting his tenth feature film Nightlife, which has now entered postproduction.

LJUBLJANA: Jan Cvitkovic's comedy Šiška Deluxe is in the final stages of postproduction with the premiere set for autumn 2015.

LJUBLJANA: Blaz Zavrsnik is in postproduction with his second feature, Juliet and Alfa Romeo/Julija in Alfa Romeo, a love story set to be released by its Slovenian distributor Fivia in autumn 2015.

Slovenia’s film production remains fairly stable despite less impressive overall results. Due to the economic situation and some changes in the exhibition and distribution sector a decline of some 30% in attendance is expected.

LJUBLJANA: Sailing to Paradise is the first feature film by Blaž Završnik, a graduate in architecture, now finishing Film and TV Direction studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television.

LJUBLJANA: One of the three feature documentaries at the Slovenian Film Festival in Portoroz is Dancing with Maria by Italian director Ivan Gergolet which premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

LJUBLJANA: Potoroz competition film A Fight For is a socially critical documentary film by journalist and film maker Siniša Gačić who is now completing a Master's Degree in TV Directing at the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television.

LJUBLJANA: Barbarians is the first feature movie by Serbian director Ivan Ikić who graduated in Film and TV Directing as the best student of his generation.

LJUBLJANA: Inferno, the third feature film by Vinko Möderndorfer (Landscape No. 2, 2008; Suburbs, 2004), competes at the Slovenian Film Festival in Potoroz, 10-14 September 2014.
