MEĆAVNIK: The Romanian/Spanish coproduction The Christmas Gift by Bogdan Mureşanu won the Golden Egg in the competition programme of the Kustendorf Film and Music Festival, which wrapped in Mećavnik, Serbia, on 18 January 2020.

MEĆAVNIK: Twenty one short films mostly by young filmmakers are competing for prizes at the 13th Kustendorf Film and Music Film Festival (13-18 January 2020) in Mećavnik. The festival was established by Emir Kusturica.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Ana Maria Rossi’s debut feature Ajvar has scored a hit in Serbian cinemas with 40,524 admissions and 131,446 EUR / 15,465,542 RSD gross since its release on 12 December 2019. Ajvar is a coproduction between Serbia and Montenegro.

BELGRADE: Marko Đorđević’s debut feature My Morning Laughter will have its international premiere in the Bright Future main programme of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (22 January-2 February 2020). The film won the Grand Prix at the Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade in December 2019.

BELGRADE: Darko Nikolić is currently in production with his debut feature, the crime thriller The Only Way Out / Jedini izlaz, one of the very few crime thrillers in contemporary Serbian cinema. The project is supported by Film Center Serbia.

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia completed the latest round of grants in 2019 by distributing 1,301,907 EUR / 153 m RSD to the production of 11 projects. The list includes feature films, minority coproductions, animated films and for the first time films for children.

BELGRADE: Vasilije Nikitovićs debut feature 4 Roses / 4 Ruže reached the third position in the Serbian weekend box office during its first weekend (5-8 December 2019) with 15,464 admissions and 54,542 EUR / 6,412,699 RSD gross.

BELGRADE: The new Serbian production company Firefly is currently in production with two quality TV drama series, The Clan directed by Boban Skerlić and Tycoon directed by Miroslav Terzić (Stiches / Šavovi).

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia allotted 298,361 EUR / 35.1 m RSD to  the production of five long documentaries, three short documentaries and three short fiction films.

BELGRADE: Popular Serbian film, TV and theatre actor Gordan Kičić’s directorial debut Real Story / Realna priča reached second place in the national box office charts, the second strong Serbian opening in two months. The film is a coproduction between Serbia and Montenegro.
