BELGRADE: First episode of the highly anticipated new Serbian drama series Tycoon / Tajkun will have its premiere on 3 March 2020 within the Special Screenings sub-section of the ongoing 48th edition of the FEST (28 February - 8 March 2020). All the 10 episodes were directed by Miroslav Terzić.

BELGRADE: Srdan Golubović’s Father / Otac opened the 48th edition of FEST in Belgrade on 28 February 2020, one day before winning the 22nd Panorama Audience Award for the best feature film and the Ecumenical Jury award at the 2020 Berlinale. The film, which will participate in the festival's competition, is a Serbian/French/German/Croatian/Slovenian/Bosnian coproduction.

BELGRADE: This year's 48th edition of  FEST, the most popular film festival in Belgrade and Serbia (27 February – 8 March 2020), spotlights the legendary Serbian and Yugoslav actor Bekim Fehmiu, who died ten years ago. The homage to the actor is the festival's slogan - Emotions Catchers (Skupljači emocija).

BELGRADE: The Match Factory has picked up Srdan Golubović’s Father / Otac, which will have its world premiere in the Panorama section of the 70th Berlinale (20 February-1 March 2020). The film is a Serbian/French/German/Croatian/Slovenian/Bosnian coproduction.

ZAGREB: Serbian veteran filmmaker Slobodan Šijan is in production with his first film since 2007, The Great Tram Robbery / Bidi Bog s nama. The film is a coproduction between Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania.

BELGRADE: Besa directed by Dušan Lazarević and produced by Adrenalin in 2018, is the first Serbian television series to get an adaptation tailored for foreign markets. Dubai-based production house MBC Studios and Lebanon’s Eagle Films will air a thriller crime TV show entitled Blood Oath in the first quarter of 2020.

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia maintained its standard pattern of financial support contests for the fourth year in a row, adding three new feature film categories – children’s films, debut films and animated films.

BELGRADE: Ivan Ikić is entering the final stages of postproduction with his sophomore feature The Users / Korisnici, a coproduction between Serbia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and France.

BELGRADE: Maša Nešković’s debut feature Asymmetry / Asimetrija, a Serbian/Slovenian/Italian coproduction, enters regular distribution in Serbia on 30 January 2020. The film had its world premiere at the Sao Paulo IFF, the national premiere at the Film Auteur Festival in Belgrade and the European premiere at the Trieste Film Festival.

BELGRADE: Admissions to domestic films in Serbia increased from 864,177 in 2018 to 958,980 in 2019. Total admissions in Serbia also went up from 4,476,043 in 2018 to 4,784,598 in 2019, while total gross increased from 14.6 m EUR in 2018 to 16.6 m EUR in 2019.
