BUDAPEST: The 7th edition of the Budapest Classics Film Marathon, organised by the National Film Institute – Hungary, will bring more than 100 restored classics screenings in the Hungarian capital from 17 to 22 September 2024. German film director Wim Wenders will be its guest of honour.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian film Operation Sámán by Zsombor Dyga will start shooting in Hungary in August 2024, benefitting from a grant of approximately 7.13 m EUR / 2.8 billion HUF from the National Film Institute – Hungary.

VESZPRÉM: Semmelweis by Lajos Koltai received the awards for Best Feature Film and Best Director at the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival, held in Veszprém, Balatonfüred and Balatonalmádi 12 - 15 June 2024 under a new name, MOZ.GO. The festival was organised for the fourth time by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) and the closing gala was held at the Petőfi Theater in Veszprém.

BUDAPEST: Oscar-winning Hungarian director László Nemes will start shooting his third feature film, Orphan / Árva, in June 2024. French Charades and Polish New Europe Film Sales will handle the sales of the film, while Mubi has already acquired all rights in the UK and Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Latin America and Turkey.

BUDAPEST: The German/French/Hungarian/Chinese coproduction Silent Friend directed by Ildikó Enyedi started shooting in Marburg, Germany on 9 April 2024. It is coproduced by Inforg-M&M Film and supported by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI).
