ZAGREB: Acclaimed Croatian helmer Antonio Nuić is currently in the final stages of preproduction with his new feature film Mali / Mali je naš, the third part of a project he started as a student film. Shooting is scheduled to launch on 20 June 2017.
BUCHAREST: Acclaimed Austrian helmer Ulrich Seidl is scheduled to shoot part of his anticipated feature film Evil Games / Böse Spiele in Romania. The film deals with the relationship between two Austrian brothers, one of whom has left for Romania and the other one for Italy.
BUCHAREST: Sieranevada by Cristi Puiu received Grand Prix and UCIN Trophy at the 45th edition of the Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) awards, which were announced on 24 April 2017. The film was also awarded for best director and scriptwriter, and also took all the acting awards.
TBILISI: Dato Kiknavelidze is currently in development with Geno, the first Georgian long animated film. A 13 minutes short pilot of the film became the first Georgian animated film selected for the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market (MIFA) Competition programme.
ZAGREB: After 12 weeks in cinemas, The Mystery of Green Hill, the fourth installment of the Croatian powerhouse Koko series, is holding on at fifth place in admissions with 61,755 admissions through 20 April 2017. A second Croatian children’s movie, Anka, is ranked in 22nd place with 27,607 admissions across eight weeks. These two are the most successful domestic productions in 2017 so far.
BUCHAREST: Romanian director Hadrian Marcu is currently filming his debut feature Shadow and Dream (working title). The film is a Romanian/Polish coproduction set to premiere in 2018.
