TBILISI: Ana Urushadze, the daughter of the acclaimed Georgian helmer Zaza Urushadze, is currently in postproduction with her first feature film, Scary Mother. The film is set to be released in 2017.

BUCHAREST: Into the Night by Sergiu Zorger, a Romanian/German pre-apocaliptic medium-length drama, is aiming to raise part of its budget through a crowdfunding campaign launched on Kickstarter.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Eleven projects from Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Turkey have been selected for the coproduction platform Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS), which will take place during the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) on 9-10 June 2017.

BUCHAREST: Director/scriptwriter Răzvan Savescu is currently developing his sophomore feature The First Client (working title), inspired by his wife’s death. The premiere is set for spring 2018.

BUCHAREST: Peter Webber's The Medusa, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Pierce Brosnan and Vanessa Redgrave, will be shot entirely in Romania at Castel Film Studios from July until end of September 2017.

ZAGREB: A total of 1,615,161 EUR / 12,004,100 HRK was distributed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre as production grants and minority coproductions grants, and also for script and project development.

TBILISI: EFP Producer on the Move Lasha Khalvashi graduated in Law and Economics and served as the CEO of Millimeter Film before founding the film company Studio Artizm in 2014. He is experienced in international coproductions and especially focuses on emerging talents. His portfolio includes feature films, short films, documentaries and animated films. He is a member of the Union of Georgian Filmmakers and of the Film Producers Guild of Georgia.

BUCHAREST: Călin Peter Netzer’s Ana, mon amour was sold by Beta Cinema to eleven territories. This Romanian/German/French coproduction was awarded the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution for editing at the 2017 Berlinale.

TBILISI: Ten films are competing in the international competition of the 5th edition of CinéDOC-Tbilisi. The first international documentary film festival in the Caucasus started on 11 May and will wrap on 16 May 2017.

TBILISI: Gigisha Abashidze is in postproduction with his debut feature Neighbors, set for release in autumn 2017. The film is the first Georgian/Macedonian coproduction.
