BUCHAREST: A group of Romanian producers have issued an open letter calling for the reform of the regulations for the funding of first feature films claiming they have no chance of getting grants under the current scheme.

This month we speak with Kris Kelp, the manager of Cinema Kino Kannel from Võru, Estonia. Kino Kannel is part of Võru Culture Centre and has been a member of Europa Cinemas since 2016. The cinema has one screen with 250 seats and is equipped with Sony 3D/4K projector. Digitalisation was finished in October 2014. Võru is a small town in Southern Estonia with a population of 12,500.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian National Film Center will allot 6,741,573 EUR / 30 m RON at its first grant session in 2016. The second session will follow the new CNC regulations expected for June 2016.

BUCHAREST: Contract to Kill directed by Keoni Waxman and starring Steven Seagal, started shooting in Constanta on 21 February 2016. Castel Film is providing services.

BUCHAREST: Aferim! received 12 nominations for the 10th edition of Gopo Awards. Radu Jude's film is followed by Dan Chișu's Bucharest NonStop and Tudor Giurgiu's Why Me?, with nine nods each.

FNE and Europa International are launching a new chapter of interviews. Every two months we will talk to a European sales agent dealing with films from the FNE region countries.

BUCHAREST: Cinema City Romania will open four new multiplexes in four cities including Bucharest in 2016. In 2015 Cinema City Romania reached the third position in Cineworld after the UK and Poland, and before Hungary, Czech Republic, Israel, Bulgaria and Slovakia.
