Ada Condeescu was selected in the Shooting Stars programme

The actress was selected in the program which, along the years, was the career launch pad for internationally famed actors such as Rachel Weisz, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Mélanie Laurent

Ada Condeescu is one of the best 10 European actors selected in the Shooting Stars program which will take place between 9th and 11th of February 2013 during Berlin International Film Festival.

As a result, Ada becomes the fifth Romanian actor selected in the well-regarded program, next to Ana Ularu (2012), Dragoș Bucur (2009), Anamaria Marinca (2008) and Maria Popistaşu (2007).

Reaching next year its 16th edition, Shooting Stars is organized by the European Film Promotion (EFP) in collaboration with the participating EFP members among which Romanian Film Promotion and the support of the Media Programme of the European Union.

The purpose of the Shooting Stars is to promote, internationally, the most talented young European actors which can thus meet with important members of the film industry (well-known actors, directors, prominent producers, casting directors, etc.).

Next to Ada Condeescu, the 2013 Shooting Stars are Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (A Royal Affair, Denmark), Laura Birn (Purge, Finland), Christa Theret (La Brindille, France), Saskia Rosendahl (Lore, Germany), Luca Marinelli (Every Blessed Day, Italy), Arta Dobroshi (Three Worlds, Kosovo), Jure Henigman (A Trip, Slovenia), Nermina Lukač (Eat Sleep Die, Sweden), Carla Juri (Someone Like Me, Switzerland).

The 10 young actors were selected out of a total of 27 nominees selected by the participating EFP members. The jury members – actress Alba Rohrwacher (Dormant Beauty), director Jasmila Zbanić (Grbavica), producer Bettina Brokemper (Nymphomaniac), casting director Jina Jay (Anna Karenina) and journalist Thierry Chèze (Studio Ciné Live) – were impressed by the new generation of European actors:

The selection process was not easy but we are sure that our final choice will cast the spotlight on true artists who deserve this exposure. We are very curious to see how their careers develop in the future.

Ada Condeescu's performance in Loverboy didn't go unnoticed either: sensual, loving, convincing. The camera loves her without falling into vulgarity or voyeurism.

Born on July 2, 1988 in Bucharest, Ada Condeescu graduated from the Theatre and Film Academy. Her debut feature film was If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle (by Florin Șerban).

In 2011, during the Sarajevo Film Festival, Ada's performance in Loverboy (by Cătălin Mitulescu) brought her "The Heart of Sarajevo" award for best actress.

Most recently, Ada played in the movie Lupu (by Bogdan Mustață), which will premiere internationally in 2013.

The 10 actors will attend a three-day intensive programme (February 9-11) that includes interviews with casting directors, producers and directors, a workshop with international talent agents, photoshoots and an international press conference, all culminating in the awards ceremony held during the Berlinale.
