As is tradition, Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 17–27 October) will offer to enjoy the celebration of cinema not only in person, at cinemas Splendid Palace and Forum Cinemas, but also online throughout Latvia. During the festival, the online platform online.rigaiff.lv will host more than 20 screenings, among them finds from the biggest film festivals, moving dramas, suspenseful psychological thrillers, as well as carefully selected films for children and families, and a flamboyant selection of short films. More information about online screenings and tickets is available at online.rigaiff.lv.

Spanning a vast range of genres, themes, and styles, the screenings available on the platform – from vivid comedies and moving dramas to spine-tingling psychological thrillers and horror stories – for all audiences regardless of taste or age, will allow witnessing the worlds of others without ever leaving home. Among the fascinating film adventures online will be the films of such industry-acclaimed directors as the French master of absurd, Quentin Dupieux, Swedish directors Levan Akin and Lukas Moodysson, and the latest from other authors, as well as debuts of the big screen – the supercharged drama Armand, awarded as the best debut at Cannes, the mix of European mythology and modern day, Milk Teeth, the sensual drama in the mood of Greek Weird Wave, Swimming Home, and others.

The platform online.rigaiff.lv will also offer a vast selection of intriguing documentary films, inviting to discover the changing faces of society in the labyrinths of history and politics, and carefully selected screenings of programme section KIDS’ REEL – a special, captivating, and beloved cultural experience for the entire family. Online screenings will also be a chance to partake in the lavish festivities of the short film format. A look in the festival programme’s boldest mirror of the zeitgeist – Short Film National and International Competition, in 5 screenings bringing together 32 works full of colour, impressions, genres, and textures from Latvia, Europe, and the world, will reveal new points of view and dimensions of the screen in a short and succinct form.

The intent behind the online platform online.rigaiff.lv is to make film adventures accessible to any spectator throughout Latvia, including those who cannot attend in-person screenings at Riga cinemas Splendid Palace and Forum Cinemas due to location, mobility issues, or other reasons. The films can be started at any time from the indicated start time (the start of the first in-person screening of the film) until the festival close, 27 October at 23:59.

Tickets to online screenings are available on the festival’s website (rigaiff.lv). One online screening ticket costs 6 EUR, KIDS’ REEL screenings are 5 EUR. More information about online screenings can be found on the festival’s website at online.rigaiff.lv.

From 17 to 27 October, RIGA IFF will delight the senses of filmgoers with more than 100 screenings of bold and fresh filmmaker visions, selected from the world’s most prestigious film festival programmes, as well as from the kindred Baltic Sea region cinema. This festival edition, the festival motto, Witnessing the World of Another, focuses on the art of cinema as a medium facilitating understanding and empathy – RIGA IFF team invites to discover new points of view and to witness the worlds coming alive on the silver screen.
