Gdynia Polish Film Festival Competition Spotlight: All That I Love

Jacek Borcuch tackles one of the most important moments in Polish history with a moving coming of age story in his new drama All That I Love.

All That I Love evolves around the lives of four small town teenagers who form a punk rock band and dream about playing at the local festival. Their transition from boys to men takes place during the political turmoil which overtook Poland in the 80's and the rise of the Solidarity movement. The emergence of censorship and repression forces the boys to face the ruthless reality of the communist regime.

The movie was produced by Prasa i Film in co-operation with Telewizja Polska (www.tvp.pl), Canal+ (www.canalplus.pl) and financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl). " Pre-production stage started in April of 2008. The shoot took place in September 2008 and February 2009 in Hel and Gdynia, according to Magda Spirowska from Prasa i Film. The total budget of the film is 3.5 million PLN ( €855,600 ) with 1 million PLN of financing from the Polish Film Institute.

Borcuch, a renowned Polish director, actor and scriptwriter, is the author of several Polish television productions and features including the highly praised Tulips. His new movie is the first Polish title presenting the events of the 80's trough the experiences of the youth.

"The Big History - manifestations, strikes, imposing of martial law - passes in the background; in the foreground - the passion for life, joy of youth, music, sex, first passionate love - everything that is most beautiful. The clash of the idealistic world of youth with the tough one of adults.(...) The visual and music side of the movie creates an illusion of those times. The camera follows characters and presents their emotions from close perspective. The set design and music - hits of Polish punk rock - rebuild the specific atmosphere from thirty years ago and make it possible for a contemporary viewer to understand the world which is gone and people who lived then." Borcuch stated.

    All That I Love
has already presented as a "work in progress" during this year's edition of the International Film Festival in Rotterdam, where it was well received by the audience, The screening in Gdynia will be the official premiere of the completed movie.
