FNE at Sarajevo FF: Sarajevo Entries Show Range


    SARAJEVO: The Sarajevo fest's 19th edition 16-24 August 2013 will screen nine titles in its main compeition - including five world premieres - revealing a new crop of cinematic exploration in the region, just a fraction of the 50 features, docus and shorts scheduled. The Heart of Sarajevo winner will take home 16,000 EUR while other prizes total 15,000 EUR

    Three Romanian entries cover a range of approaches from Corneliu Porumboiu's third feature, When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism, to newcomer films Wolf, a supernatural study by Bogdan Mustata, and family drama Carmen, by Doru Nitescu. Two Austrian films, Katharina Muckstein's Talea and Daniel Hoesl's Soldate Jeannette, are in the running, while two others represent the former Yugoslavia: Faruk Loncarevic's Bosnia-Herzegovina/Germany/Slovenia co-production With Mom and Bobo Jelcic's Croatia/Bosnia-Herzegovina coproduction A Stranger.

    Greece's Dimitris Bavellas screens Runaway Day, while Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross represent Georgia with In Bloom. Jury chair Danis Tanovic will open the fest with his gritty look at the daily drudge of a Roma family, An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker produced by Sarajevo Center for Contemporary Art www.pro.ba and
