Three Romanian entries cover a range of approaches from Corneliu Porumboiu's third feature, When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism, to newcomer films Wolf, a supernatural study by Bogdan Mustata, and family drama Carmen, by Doru Nitescu. Two Austrian films, Katharina Muckstein's Talea and Daniel Hoesl's Soldate Jeannette, are in the running, while two others represent the former Yugoslavia: Faruk Loncarevic's Bosnia-Herzegovina/Germany/Slovenia co-production With Mom and Bobo Jelcic's Croatia/Bosnia-Herzegovina coproduction A Stranger.
Greece's Dimitris Bavellas screens Runaway Day, while Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross represent Georgia with In Bloom.
