FESTIVALS: Russia Takes Top Prize at Cyprus Film Days

    NICOSIA: The Gulls by Russian director Ella Manzheeva won the grand prize of the Glocal Images Best Film Award at the The 14th Cyrus Film Days International Festival held in Limassol and Nicosia from 15 to 24 April 2016.

    The festival presented a total of 18 films in and out of the competition, from 17 countries around the world. The festival also included the screening of two films for children and six late night screenings for adults only. The ten-day festival was attended by actors, directors, producers and other film professionals.

    A highlight of the event was the screening of the film The Brand New Testament directed by Jaco Van Dormael and coproduced by Belgium, France and Luxembourg, followed by an after party with a performance by a local band.

    The five members of the international jury gave the following awards:

    The Glocal Images Best Film Award and a 6,000 EUR prize

    Let Them Come (France, Algeria)
