The award consists of 1.2 million CZK (nearly 50,000 euros) to go toward production of the feature length documentary film. The HBO Czech Republic competition for documentary projects began in 2008. Endor Film producer Jiri Konecny told FNE, "I'm really proud that we won, because there were 88 projects competing. It has become a very prestigious award now." Because of the quality of the projects submitted, HBO announced it would also support two runner-up documentary films.
The film will follow a young schizophrenic man whose last name translates as "Love" for a year as he celebrates his 30th birthday and his ailing grandmother (and sole source of family support) turns 80.
Konecny told FNE the film's budget will be in the range of 2.5-3 million CZK. HBO will have TV rights to the film and will premiere the film.
Smrzova's previous documentary was Saving Edwards which was also a production supported by HBO.
