The film is based on diary entries Kadrnka made when his father had a life-threatening stroke, and the bond/truce that the son must develop with his mother.
Kadrnka will produce through his own company, Sirius Films. The film is budgeted at 650,000 EUR and received 37,000 EUR in development funding from the Czech State Cinematography Fund.
Kadrnka, whose 2011 debut film 80 Letters (produced by Studio Bystrouska) premiered at the Berlinale Forum, told FNE his second feature film The Little Crusader will premiere this summer. The film is a Czech/Slovak/Italian coproduction, which was shot in fall 2015, produced by Sirius Films, Artileria and Italy’s Tempesta. It received funding from the Czech State Cinematography Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the Apulia Film Commission and the Sardegna Film Commission.
