PRODUCTION: Czech/German National Street Starts Filming in Prague

    PRAGUE: Czech writer/director Stepan Altrichter is currently shooting the Czech/German coproduction National Street in Prague. The film is produced by Pavel Strnad and Petr Oukropec for Negativ.

    The German coproducer is 42film, with additional coproducers Czech TV and ZDF/ARTE. The film is supported by the Czech Film Fund, Germany’s MDM and Eurimages. The budget is 1.3 m EUR.

    Filming will run until the end of November 2018. The film should be completed by the spring of 2019.

    National Street is based on a novel by co-scriptwriter Jarosla Rudis, which has been published in the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, France, Spain and the Netherlands, and has been adapted for the stage in the Czech Republic and Germany. The central character in the story is a man living on the outskirts of Prague, who is trying to win the heart of a waitress while also trying to save his favourite pub from closing.
