    VILNIUS: Popular Lithuanian director Emilis Vėlyvis is completing postproduction on the thriller The Night Guards a.k.a. Wings. The film is a Russian production starring Leonid Yarmolnik and Ivan Yankovsky.

    The Night Guards / Nochnyye Strazhi is an urban fantasy about a nice guy courier and a gorgeous vampire, who find themselves in the maelstrom of a war between vampire clans. The film is expected to have many spectacular scenes and high quality special effects.

    Russian production companies Sputnik and Mars Media are producing with an estimative budget of almost 2.23 m EUR. The film will be released in Russian cinemas on 25 August 2016 and in Lithuanian cinemas on 2 September 2016. Garsų Pasaulio Įrašai UAB is the Lithuanian distributor.

    Emilis Vėlyvis is known for the crime comedies Zero (2006, Guerilla Films) and Zero 2 (2010, Kino Kultas), and for the gangster comedy Redirected (2014), which was a coproduction of Lithuania's Kino Kultas, Meed Films and UK’s Wellington Films. Redirected is the most popular film of all times in Lithuania with over 322,000 admissions.
