The winning films were chosen by an international jury consisting of the president of the jury, director of the Icelandic Film Centre, film expert, representative of Iceland to the International promotion organisation European Film Promotion Laufey Guðjónsdóttir, French philosopher, film director and screenwriter Jean Breschand, and member of the German Film Academy Katja Hevemeyer.
The Estonian short Nanuli and Gogi by director Mariam Agladze, a short documentary following an old couple trying to come to terms with death in an abandoned countryside village, won the best film prize. The 14-minute film is a coproduction with Georgia. The winning film received a prize worth 3,000 EUR in equipment for the next project.
The New Baltic Cinema short film competition jury also elected When You Cross The River by director Klaudija Matvejevaitė as the best Lithuanian short film. The director received a prize of 3,000 EUR, supported by the audiovisual authors and producers rights' association AVAKA.
A Special Jury mention went to another Lithuanian short Still Water directed by Dagnė Gumbrevičiūtė and produced by Dagnė Gumbrevičiūtė and Vaiva Martišauskaitė.
Scanorama held its closing ceremony in Vilnius on 18 November 2018, before moving on to three more cities in Lithuania, running through 25 November.
