According to Malta Film Commission, the remake of the 1973 classic film starring Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen was shot mostly at the water tanks in Kalkara and Rabat. Red Granite Pictures production is producing. Aaron Guzikowski wrote the script.
According to the Malta Independent quoting Minister of Tourism Edward Zammit Lewis, sixteen international productions were shot in Malta in 2016.
