Theme Channels Gain Polish Viewers

    WARSAW: Poland’s theme channels continued to gain viewers in 2011, rising by 10% in the target 16-49 age group, to a 33% share.

    According to data from Atmedia research firm, the only one of Poland's four major channels to gain viewers was Polsat (www.polsat.pl), which gained a 3% share in the same age group to end up with a 16.5% share, narrowly beating out its commercial TV rival TVN (www.tvn.pl ), which fell by 2% to 16.1%.

    Polsat also topped the New Year's Eve ratings race, with 3.8 million viewers, followed by public broadcaster TVP2 with 1.8 million viewers, while TVP's (www.tvp.pl ) two main channels claimed eight out of the top ten spots for the New Year's weekend battle.
