Floating Skyscrapers is a drama about a young man whose well-rounded family life and the relationship with his girlfriend Sylwia is disturbed when he finds himself fascinated with a new male friend, leading to confusion and a struggle to find himself.
"Floating Skyscrapers is a film about a human being. It's a film about love, family and relationships that can exist within it; a film about a struggle for oneself and others; a film about missed opportunities and lost dreams; about contemporary reality, that can make a victim out of everyone of us," Wasilewski told FNE. Shooting, which began on 31 July 2012 in Warsaw, is scheduled to last 25 days.
The film is produced by Alter Ego Pictures (www.alteregopictures.pl), a film distribution company making its first foray into film production, with a budget of 1.5 million PLN (367,000 EUR).
Wasilewski worked with Zentropa International (www.zentropa.dk) on Lars von Trier's Antichrist and was the assistant to Małgorzata
Szumowska during the shooting of her award winning drama 33 Scenes From Life (www.pandorafilm.com). He made his feature debut in 2011 with the In The Bedroom starring Katarzyna Herman, who was awarded the best Female Performance Prize at the 2011 at the Youth and Film Festival in Koszalin (www.mif.org.pl). Herman will portray the mother of the leading character in Floating Skyscrapers. The cast includes Mateusz Banasiuk, Bartosz Gelner, Marta Nieradkiewicz, Olga Frycz, Izabela Kuna and Mirosław Zbrojewicz. The director of photography is Jakub Kijowski, and the music score is composed by Leszek Możdżer.
