TVP told FNE that the mini-series will have four episodes and will cover issues concerning politics, economy and culture. One of the inspirations for this project is the fact that Wroclaw was chosen by the EU as the European Capital of Culture 2016. The main author and director of the series is a Polish-German filmmaker and producer Andrzej Klamt and Zofia Kunert will co-author the show. The shoot dates and the planned budget of the series have not yet been announced.
"Projects that analyse our joint past are still too rare. A look from two different perspectives will allow us to present the historic truth better and to keep the memory of our joint faith," said Stefan Brauburger of ZDF.
The series will be a continuation of cooperation between TVP and ZDF. In 2014 the broadcasters coproduced a two-part documentary entitled World War II. The First Victim about the German occupation of Poland during the war, shown through the stories of both Poles and Germans. Both countries broadcast the movie in September 2014, and it was bought by several foreign stations including SBS (Australia), SVT (Sweden), ORF (Austra), NRK (Norway) and the History Channel.
