By FNE Staff

The Polish film The Mill And The Cross directed by Lech Majewski and produced by Silesia Film (www.silesiafilm.com.pl), Bokomotiv Filmproduktion (www.bokomotiv.se) and TVP (www.international.tvp.pl) will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, 20-30 January 2011.

The film will screen in the "New Frontier" program, one of five of the most innovative films that "push the limits of traditional cinema aesthetics and the narrative structures of filmmaking."

The Mill & The Cross is one of the 115 feature films from 28 countries presented at Sundance.

The Mill & The Cross, starring Rutger Hauer, Charlotte Rampling and Michael York, is partly set inside a painting of Peter Bruegel, the Elder from 1564 and intermingles the contemporary audiovisual techniques with traditional filmmaking. The film features the process of the creation of the painting and its internal dynamics. A documentary film directed by Dagmara Drzazga, about the making of The Mill & The Cross has been already awarded the Prix Italia earlier this year.
