FESTIVALS: Latvia, Romania Get Cannes Competition Slots

    {mosimage}In the Fog (www.rijafilms.lv), a Latvian coproduction directed by Sergei Loznitsa, and Beyond the Hills (www.mobrafilms.ro) by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu have been chosen for the main competition of the Cannes film festival.

    {mosimage}In the Cinefondation selection, Prague's FAMU (www.famu.cz) film school is represented by Michal Hogenaur with the 58 minute film Tambylles, and the Romanian film school UNATC (www.unatc.ro) is represented by Cristi Iftime's 22 minute film The Camp in Razoare.

    Austrian directors earned two main competition slots, for Ulrich Seidl's PARADISE: Love (www.ulrichseidl.com) and Michael Haneke's Love (www.wega-film.at).
