The hard fought for programme budget which supports the audiovisual industry across Europe is facing major cuts in its 2016 budget. The MEDIA programme, a sub-programme of Creative Europe is being targeted by the European Commission to bear the brunt of reductions to the Creative Europe’s framework programme budget.
At risk is the about to be launched financial guarantee instrument due to be launched next year as well as cuts in support for film festivals, distribution and sales.
Dariusz Jablonski, Member of the FNE Association executive council and head of Apple Film Poland said: “There is still time. It’s worth it to fight.” Writing to your MEPs can have a major impact on the impact of the cuts. The EU Culture Committee meets on Tuesday 15 September next week.
