CLUJ-NAPOCA: Vlad Petri’s first feature documentary follows the anti-government protests that took place in Piaţa Universităţii of Bucharest during a year from January 2012 to January 2013.

Bucureşti, unde eşti?/ Where Are You Bucharest? was awarded with the Audience Prize at the European Film Festival which was held in Bucharest, 8-15 May 2014. It screens in the competitive section Romanian Days at Transilvania IFF, 30 May-8 June 2014. The film also participated in the Official Selection of Rotterdam IFF.

I was interested in the relationships between the representatives of power and the protesters, in the messages, the themes, the general chaos, and the lack of a clear direction,” Petri told FNE.

“In 1989, when the Romanian revolution took place I was 10 years old. I still remember the images shown on TV, images of the army patrolling the streets, of the people being shot, of violence, but also of immense solidarity between the people. Sometimes in the middle of the events of 2012 these images came back to me. It’s the same space, sometimes the same people, many of them older, changed, transformed by a post-communist society that doesn't give them much hope,” Petri said.

He filmed and produced the 80 minute film through his company Activ Docs with a small budget. Bucureşti, unde eşti?/ Where Are You Bucharest? will be distributed in domestic cinemas by Transilvania Film opening on 13 June 2014.
